ABSOLUTELY! True acne-prone skin is a lifelong challenge, and we will address both the acne, plus the scarring, pigmentation, and aging that can come with it, all at the same time.

Less redness, blemishes and discomfort may occur as soon as a week, and most clients see significant improvement around 6 weeks with consistent home care.

Acne typically takes 3-6 months to form and will generally take 3-6 months to clear. Clients on our plant-based products may take slightly longer to clear.

Every 2 weeks until you are clear, (average 2-3 months) then monthly as your skin responds.

Your homecare plan is strengthened at every visit. This is critical: as your skin adapts to the products, we set you up with stronger products until the acne is fully under control.

Once you are fully clear, we maintain that level of strength for about 6 months, then slowly reduce the strength and frequency until we hit the sweet spot where your skin stabilizes and the acne is well under control.

The vast majority of clients clear their skin in 3 months with twice a month treatment (six visits!). We STRONGLY recommend you maintain your results with regular monthly treatments, along with continued home care.

Clients who have been clear for years still use their products and come in every 2-4 months for a little refresh.

Yes. Our youngest clients start around 9 years old and our eldest clients are in their 80s. Acne doesn’t discriminate, and neither do we.

Yes, if it’s not comedogenic. You may be pink to red after an acne treatment, lasting up to a few hours. Please plan social engagements accordingly.

During your initial Acne Rx consult:

• we will take a close look at your skin, current home care and lifestyle choices that may be helping or hindering your results.
• You will learn about the real causes of acne, and how to stop them from controlling your skin
• We patch test your skin for sensitivity, take lots of notes, then write out your personalized plan for achieving clear skin.
• Based on your progress, your home care routine is strengthened every 2 weeks until you are clear.

Absolutely. Deeper skin tones may just need to go a little bit slower to avoid irritation that can lead to hyperpigmentation (dark spots). Keeping the skin hydrated is essential.

A little discomfort is common, but it’s certainly not painful. If you are extremely sensitive, let us know so we can adjust for your comfort level. If our 9 year old clients can handle it, I'm sure you will be fine 🙂

Not while you are actively taking Accutane — and not until your skin has fully recovered afterward.

Accutane (isotretinoin) profoundly affects the skin’s barrier, healing capacity, and oil production. Because of this, we do not perform acne treatments or use active acne ingredients while a client is actively on Accutane, or for a minimum of six months after completing the medication, unless otherwise cleared by a medical provider and your skin has clearly stabilized.

That said, we do understand that real life isn’t always linear.

In some cases:

• A client may start Accutane and discontinue it quickly because their body does not tolerate it.

• Others may experience severe dryness and barrier breakdown, even at low doses.

In these situations, we may be able to offer very limited, supportive care only — such as hydration, calming treatments, and barrier repair — once you are no longer taking the medication and your skin is no longer acutely compromised.

This phase is not acne treatment.
It is skin recovery.

Active acne treatments, exfoliation, extractions, peels, and acne-specific actives are not introduced until the skin has clearly regained resilience and normal healing function.

Because Accutane can significantly alter how skin responds, we assess each situation carefully and conservatively. In some cases, we may recommend waiting longer before beginning any program-based acne care.

This AcneRX Extract treatment is designed to hasten the clearing process and does not include massage. The focus is on getting you clear as fast as possible so the majority of time is spent on extraction and disinfection. Other acne treatments may include LED light (for disinfection, dark spots, scarring), a calming mask, microcurrent or even Jet Plasma depending on your skin needs.

A full set of homecare typically runs $130-$150. Cleansers and toners ($28-$35) last 6-12 weeks, actives ($11-$45) may last 4-8 weeks depending on frequency of usage. Our botanical-based products start around $50 for cleansers which lasts 3-6 months, and $80 for moisturizers that can last 3-4 months.
